All students will follow as part of the core curriculum, the half GCSE Religious Studies course, as listed below.

Exam Board: WJEC

Exam:
The course, for Religious Studies, to be studied in Key Stage 4 will lead to a short course GCSE that will be taken at the end of Year 11. Students will be examined through a 1 hour 50 minutes exam paper and no additional course work will be required, resulting in a 100% exam.

Course Information
The WJEC Board (Specification B) Short Course Option A which will cover the following topics:

• Religion & Life Issues
• Unit 1 Relationships Issues of love, marriage and divorce
• Unit 2 Is it Fair? Issues of justice and equality
• Unit 3 Looking for Meaning Issues about God, life and death
• Unit 4 Identity and Belonging Issues of choice, personal and corporate identity
• Unit 5 Our World Exploring creation and our place in the world

Most students will be issued with the text book “Believing and Living” which is designed to help with homework

Homework will be given periodically, and will be designed to help the students’ understanding of the topics and to gain exam question practice.
