This qualification provides access to understanding what is involved in Beauty Therapy and acts as an induction to competence qualifications.

The qualification involves building a written portfolio of work showing competence in all the below units:

• Understanding Health and safety in the workplace
• Understanding the operation of a reception with ancillary sales
• Understanding the structure and working practices of the Beauty Industry
• Understanding Beauty Therapy and the use of Beauty Products

Practical skills:

• Facial Massage
• Manicure
• Make up application
• Massage
• Washing and conditioning hair
• Blow drying hair
• Styling hair

Entry Requirements
There are no specific entry requirements.

Career progression
Completion of this qualification will help you progress to NVQ 2 in Beauty Therapy with further progression to NVQ 3 and Holistic Treatments.
