Students will produce a portfolio of work. All portfolio work is assessed internally and selected portfolios taken for external moderation.
Course Information:
Work will consist of modules (topics or areas of personal interest), which are broken down into challenges. You will be required to gain credits by completing these challenges. These challenges will encourage you to become more skilled at:
- Improving your own learning and performance
- Working with others
- Problem solving
- Planning and Carry out a Piece of Research
- Planning and Giving an Oral Presentation
- Communicating through Discussion
The skills listed above are commonly known as the Wider Key Skills. These challenges and skills will provide evidence for a qualification in these Key Skills, which carry points for Achievement and Attainment as mentioned above. These skills and qualifications are recognised and highly valued nationally by government, employers and institutes of further education.
These challenges may be completed in a variety of situations – in school, in the community, possibly in a college, in a work placement and also at home.
To achieve an award, you will need to keep a well – organised file of your work. As you complete each challenge you will need to collect evidence for your file, which must include an action plan and review, written work, drawings, photographs, tapes, videos, certificates, witness statements and forms signed by someone who has seen your work.
Your programme will be based on a variety of modules related to:
- Communication
- Citizenship and Community
- Sport and Leisure
- Independent Living
- The Environment
- Vocational Preparation
- Health and Fitness
- Work Related Learning and Enterprise
- Science and Technology
